Mitsulift Introduces Exclusive Elevator Cabin Mini-Series

Design duo david/nicolas have crafted two exclusive elevator cabins using their signature design approach of combining high quality craftsmanship and old world nostalgia. Designed for Mitsulift, the result is a juxtaposition of retro-futurism and old world charm resulting in a truly one of a kind elevator experience the firm is eager to share.

Mitsulift, a company whos joint-venture with Mitsubishi Electric Corporation in Japan, keeps itself on the forefront of how people move through cities. Headquartered in Lebanon, the firm profiles itself as ‘urban landscape transformers’. With operations in eight different countries, they have wide reach but maintain a boutique approach to design and manufacturing.

Mitsulifts goal of enhancing city living by enriching the vertical commute makes the partnership with david/nicolas a perfect fit. With design based values and an enthusiasm to partner with others, its no surprise the results are truly world calss. The elevator cabin series that came from the partnership currently includes the D/N1 and D/N2 models, each with a different colour aesthetic and material selection.

The D/N1 model fuses old and new elements to form subtle contrasts and play on proportions. The cabin design combines a variety of materials including sculpted wood, polished laminates, arched steel, diffused light as well as natural Travertino.

Contrastingly, its second counterpart, D/N2 model offers a “futuristic outlook into urban travel”. The design comprises of a contrast of cold and warm materials, including wood, lustrous steel, and plush wool for the flooring – all coming together through a stream of dramatic light that accentuates the sleekness of the interior.
